Longi's new cell technology shows half the truth: it pioneered HPBC as its first large-scale mass production of new generation cell technology, mainly for the distributed photovoltaic market. In September 2022, Longji Xixianleye High Efficiency Monocrystalline cell Project with an annual output of 15GW was officially put into production, marking that HPBC entered the mass production stage. However, the new cell technology for ground power stations has not been finally announced.
TOPCon and HJT are the mainstream choice in the PV industry, both of which are based on N-type silicon chips. Longi has chosen HPBC, which uses IBC technology on the basis of P-type, to play a differentiated competitive strategy. The efficiency of GaAs can reach 28%~29%, but it cannot be used for photovoltaic power generation on a large scale because the cost is too high. Finally, we need to calculate the ROE (return on equity) comprehensively to see which route is the best for the industry."
